27 June2006

I must start taking more pictures of Katie and putting them in this blog coz Katie changes by the day. Yesterday she WAVED for the first time! It's been coming. She used to just put up her hand when we waved to her and look at her own hand. You could see she was trying to connect our waving movements to her. And it all connected yesterday. And on a videocall today she waved to me! I swear! I'm not sure if she meant to but you can never be sure!

Gigis's mom arrived 2 days ago and it's taken 2 days for kate to get used to her. She would moan and cry everytime Gigi's mom came close to her, it was quite comical! But this morning Katie woke up (she was sleeping in our room) at 6 am. Gigi's mom was still awake and she came in to take Katie and she was fine with her. So she's still strange with people she doesn't know. But she is getting better. I just hope she's be ok by the time they leave for Italy.

More pictures coming this way soon, I hope!

What a week!

They say babies grow so fast. and it's never been more true in the last 6 months as it has been this week.

It was a week of firsts for little Katie. Of course she crawled for the first time. But she did something fantastic for the first time today as well and that was clapping hands! I even managed to get a picture for this blog,

THe other first which isn't great is that she got sick. It started on Tuesday with a cough though she had been coughing a few days previously early in the morning at about 5. That started with a dry cough. Then she started coughing during the day on Tuesday so Gigi took her to see uncle Tom. He said she was fine and there was nothing wrong with her chest,

But on Thursday she got a runny and stuffy nose, and we had to suck the mucous out of her nose cos it was all blocked up. Poor little bunny! So brought her to see uncle TOm and aagain he said there was nothing really wrong with her. But he did give us something to thin the mucous and some nose drops.

I think she's better today. Dominga says she's still got a runny nose but the mucous is watery and coming out. and it doesn't sound like she's coughing much anymore. I've been at work since 12 today and rushed home to see Kate but she'd already gone to sleep at 7. so that's a shame.

We are going to watch the england vs paraguay match at fluid tonight. It's englands first match at the world cup. Heather's there and dave gibbons. Jo and steve dawson. I'm mentioning these people so when I read this blog 100 years from now i'll know who was there when I went to fluid!! haha!!

it's going to be a long month at work with the world cup. But there are the holidays at the end of it all. So something to look forward to.

Oh yeah... another first was Katie's first birthday party. She went with daddy to tomasso's first birthday. I heard she wasn't really in a party mood at first coz she had just woken up, but she warmed up and apparently had fun. Mummy was working that day so she missed it@

The Watershed, 7 June 2006

today was one of those momentous days you hope you will be able to recall for a long long time. Katie CRAWLED for the first time! She's been on the edge of starting to crawl for a week and a bit. But it was never anything more than a step before she'd fall on her face. Today though, there was no stopping her!

Well, she wasn't exactly zooming about but it was very impressive! It started when I was trying to change her. As usual she got on all 4s while I was struggling to take her diaper off. She saw the phones at the corner of the table. I thought no way she's going to reach that. But she proved me wrong! She got up on all 4s, and then carefully moved her alternate hands and legs quite quickly to the phones. It was all over in 3 moves, but it was the first time ever she had strung a continuous crawl together.

Anyone from the outside looking in would have thought we had won the lottery. I was in shock. Mom was so proud. Daddy had the camera. What a special moment!. Of course we then put her on the floor and expected her to give us a show. WHich she acquised for a bit. Sweetie pie!

Anyway now she's sleeping. The other thing she did for the first time today was pull herself confidently up from the bed! She's still a bit shakey but she was very determined. ANother milestone!

June 3rd

SO i"ve decided to turn this blog into a diary of Katie. And other things, but not much happens without Katie in it.

I went for my first car ride alone with K yesterday. She was great going into town. She slept in the car on the way to Paragon. ANd she was in great mood when we got there. Bumped into Fabrizia and Annalisa at the cafe and K was all smily. Of course I had just fed her which probably owed to her good form. ANyway we went to Paragon looking for a high chair. Of course I never buy on the first shopping trip so left without a high chair. K was still ok as we walked back to the car but you could tell she was getting a bit restless. And half way home she started to cry, uncontrollably, yelping, sobbing. I tried to hold on til I got home (I tried to hold on!!) But she wasn;t going to stop so I had to. Stop the car that is. At a busstop along Holland Road. It workd for a while but it did't last for long.

Not a very interesting story so let's move on to something else: I'm hungry. K is sleeping now so were waiting for her to wake up so we can go out and get something to eat. Hopefully we'll buy a high chair today. Really need one.

Schoolgirls are coming over today at 330. Must try to be back by then. I'm going to publish this. SO bye!
