school, dentist and chinese

Since my last blog Katie's approach to school has changed. She seems to love it now. It's probably because there are more children in the class and a greater dynamic. Her relationship wiht Darcey has improved, it got a bit strange after darcey came back from a holiday but that's all in the past.

She had a cast on her foot 2 weeks ago. Freeman stepped on her foot in school. It swelled and was painful so we took her to the specialist who put her in a cast despite not seeing anything in the xray. She was walking on the cast 2 days later so thankfully there was nothing wrong.

Katie has also strated attending chinese tution. As with everything she seems to do it takes her a while to get used to it. she wouldn't let gigi or nana or me leave her class. But last week was a breakthrough. Gigi left the class and when he came back she was getting along great with Megan and Annette. Mom took her today and left her there and apparently she was fine/ Relief!

Today was a trip to the dentist. He put a filling over one molar and told us to keep an eye on the other one on top right/ He also said it's important that katie stops sucking her thumb by the time she is almost 6. He gave me a few suggestions, like putting a plaster on her thumb or painting her nails. These are yet to be tried.

Katie is generally happy these days and a lot more responsive. She has my cough and mucuous in her nose which she's had the last 2 weeks but nothing serious. I've benn too lazy to take her to see ching yee.

Katie, her moods and school

Katie's been waking up quite late in the morning recently. She had a good sleep last night and was up at 8:30. I still managed to get her in to school just 15 minutes late today. But for the last week or so, she's been very apprehensive entering her class. She doesn't want me to leave her, and says she doesn't like school. I can only guess that being K1 it's not all play and there's some actual work involved. And there's no play time before school start, they get right down to the grind unfortunately. But her Chinese teacher is lovely. I haven't seen much of Shu Ping in action, but I'm sure she's fine.

She's also still lazy to go downstarirs for a play when she gets home. i must organise a playdate with Kiera soon.

Otherwise, katie is brilliant. She's funny and loves to play with nana at home. She scriblled on a piece of paper today what she tells me was I love mama and papa, and she was disappointed I forgot to bring it to work with me today. How cute.

The movies

katie went to watch a movie for the first time in
her life. She wore her fav dress, long and flowery
and Gigi took her in to orchard cineleisurw for
to 640 pm showing. It was the princess and the
frog. But they left before the end because it
was too scary. She was crying! Poor dear

This is Katie, eating an apple and watching High 5. She looks like an Ah Pek. 21 months old. What have I gotten myself into...?

We went to the Bird Park today with Papa. It was a lovely morning; we started off with the penguins and her doing the penguin walk. And it ended with us getting the monorail back. I think that was the highlight of Katie's day!

Gigi says that Gaga spent a good deal of time with Katie atthe playground today. He comes over everyday tp pick her up from school which is so lovely! They spent the evening at the playground. I think Gaga enjoys his time with her and vice versa.

first potty pee

No 20 minutes after I said out loud, "She'll never be potty trained!" my darling sweetheart, just to prove me wrong, successfully peed in her potty for the first time in her 21 month old life! As sad as it sounds, this is one of the most thrilling things to hppen to a parent. Of course, we could still encounter many more weeks or months of more peeing on carpets, but I think we've crossed the first hurdle in toilettraining.

The Ahem bug

I'm all alone again! But that's ok. Gigi and Katie and Dominga have left for Italy, 2 days ago, which has left me alone. And it couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have a terrible cough and a general malaise which has left me in a foul mood. So it's good I'm by myself so I can rest and sulk and cough without affecting anyone else.

I'm now 6 and a half weeks.

Lazy Mamma

I have no pictures to upload today because I'm a lazy mamma. Words to add to Katie's vocab>nail, and sky. I know, slow progress, but she's a lazy girl and you know where she gets that from!

Katie's flying off to Italy with papa and DOminga this Friday. And lazy mamma hasn't done much to prepare for her flight. Today is a disaster day. I've a throat infection, Gigi has a funny tummy and DOm had her tooth extracted. We're a state! Right, tomorrow I will buy all the things Katie needs and be done with that.

She's still very cute though she threw her worst tantrum yet after swimming on wednesday. And even after the tantrum subsided she never was the same until she went for her nap. But she's a good girl most of the time. :-)
